You see a shirt for £97 but you dont have enough cash on you so you borrow £50 from your mum and £50 from your dad = 100.
You buy the shirt and get £3 change. You give £1 to your mum, £1 to your dad and keep £1 for yourself.
So you owe your mum £49, you owe your dad £49. 49+49=98+ your £1= £99.
Wheres the other £1?????

Ye, but its when you say it the other way round, when you calculate what you owe back with what you have already paid back - why wont it add up properly!!! Gggrrrrrrr

I think it could be because your not counting the two pounds you've already given back, but are counting your pound, so all of the £100 isnt there when your counting.

Because really, they didn't lend you £50 each, they leant you £49 each, which is £98 and then theres your pound you kept, which is £99.

You are calculating money you owe with money you have.
It can get even worse if you say
you owe your mum £49 and you dad £49 = £98 plus the £2 you have paid back plus the £1 you've kept - now you have a total £101.
