We are in need of foster homes urgently.
We rescue pound dogs and at the moment the pounds are bursting, we need the foster homes to look after the dogs until room becomes available at the kennels. All pound dogs go into the isolation block to ensure that they dont infect other dogs with kennel cough - nearly all pound dogs have this, it is an airbourne disease that is hard to irradicate, unfortunately at the moment the isolation block is full and we have nowhere to put any new dogs, this means that dogs are being pts in the pounds.
it is a gridlock situation, i have been trying to think of other options but i'm constantly drawing a blank.
The foster would be for about 2 weeks, till the dog would be clear of it's cough and we could get it vaccinated. All that the foster home needs is to do is look after the dog as though it were there's, all the food will be provided for the dog in your care, and we are on hand for back up and advice.
Kennel cough comes in different strains but the common one is the one that pound dogs usually have, PLEASE BE AWARE IF YOU HAVE A DOG ALREADY, THEN IT WILL PROBABLY CATCH KENNEL COUGH FROM THE POUND DOG.
My 3 caught it recently from Max and Molly but i treat them with Benilyn and they were fine in a couple of days.
We have been waiting for over a week now for a kennel in the isolation block and i dread to think how many dogs have been pts, it is a very frustrating situation for all concerned.
If you or anybody you know would be willing to help a pound dog for 2 weeks please get in touch.
